It's time for our biggest, craziest event of the year on Wednesday, April 24 from 4PM - 7PM! Our sixth annual Garden Party at Oak Hill Ace Hardware kicks off spring in a colorful way with 20% off storewide (some restrictions apply), free pansies with any purchase, and, of course, our famous 10 for $10 dirt cheap sale. We're gearing up to top last year's sale of 2,500 bags of soil!

We'll be welcoming back our friends from Cumberland County Master Gardeners, Scarborough Garden Club, and Scarborough Community Garden as well as other outdoor, gardening and farming experts. Bring your CFLs, batteries, old paint (in original containers with a label), American flags, and mercury thermostats and take advantage of our free in-store recycling programs.

Summer is coming and that means true BBQ season is upon us! We want to help you become a backyard BBQ hero so we're hosting our first ever Neighborhood BBQ Fest on Saturday, May 5 from 11AM - 2PM with samples on new Weber Grills styles, Big Green Egg's, and - our new favorite - Uuni Pizza Ovens. Taste test top of the line BBQ sauces as well as lots of samples straight from the grill like pineapple, pulled pork and even pizza. Santa is opening his doors to his workshop for one day only at Oak Hill Ace Hardware in Scarborough on Saturday, December 9! There's something for everyone on your list - naughty or nice, we don't judge - at our first ever Santa's Workshop Open House with 20% off nearly everything in the store. We'll have a hot cocoa bar, samples of the BEST butter cookies this side of the North Pole and gift wrapping (donations accepted for local school or scout group). The big man himself might even make an appearance!

Intro Demo sessions will be held at 10:30AM (this session is now full - to be put on the waitlist, please indicate as such below) and 12:30PM at our Dunstan store (636 US Rt 1, Scarborough). Last time we held these sessions, they filled up extremely fast so don't wait!

Come on by Pine Tree Seafood & Produce (across from our Dunstan location at 655 US Rt 1, Scarborough) on Saturday, September 30, for free samples of some of their delicious offerings cooked up on our Big Green Egg! We'll have two cookers fired up and preparing mouthwatering seafood just outside their doors - and we hear there's a sake tasting inside, too!

Do you make your own jam, jelly or preserves? Submit a jar of your best to our first ever We Be Jammin' contest! Tasting and voting will be open to the public on Saturday, September 16 from 10am - 3pm at Oak Hill Ace Hardware where tasters will sample these culinary creations on fresh baked bread from Highland Avenue Greenhouse and then cast a vote for their favorite flavor. Sweet prizes will be awarded to the top three winners immediately following the voting period. (You do not need to be present to submit an entry or to win.)

Master Food Preservers from the UMaine Cooperative Extension program will be on hand to lend expert canning advice on all kinds of different foods and provide FREE pressure gauge testing for your canning equipment.

NEXT WEEKEND: Make a $5 donation to Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals for a limited edition 5 gallon bucket and receive 20% off* everything that fits in the bucket. 100% of your donation at either of our stores will benefit The Barbara Bush Children's Hospital at Maine Medical Center. This Saturday we will be celebrating a very special event: owner and helpful hardware man Dan Johnson's 40th Anniversary at Ace Hardware! He started at Oak Hill Hardware when he was a sophomore in high school, if you can believe that! He worked his way up, becoming store manager at 21 and then general manager of both the Oak Hill and Dunstan locations.
